Our clinic has an endodontist (root canal specialist)
Why is root canal therapy needed?
A root canal treatment is needed due to progression of caries into the tooth, when treatment by filling is not enough, but it is necessary to fill the root or perform a deep root treatment. The tooth pulp may be damaged due to a strong blow to the tooth, a crack, or caries in a tooth that has passed through the tooth’s enamel and dentin. Caries that has not been treated in time causes great destruction of the tooth, which may cause intense pain. At the initial stage it may be treated by a root filling, but if not treated in time, it may develop and cause inflammation of the tooth pulp, which requires a root canal treatment. In this treatment, the remainder of the caries and the tooth pulp (the blood vessels and nerves in the tooth) are removed and the root plugged up.
Irrespective of the cause, when the pulp is damaged, if a root canal treatment is not done, the bacteria will continue their action and progress towards the roots. This progress increases the danger of an abscess forming and the infection spreading to the bone and gums.
What is required after root canal treatment?
After a root canal treatment, a core buildup and a dental crown are needed, at the dentist’s discretion and depending on the amount of remaining healthy tooth. In other words, the tooth must be restored as quickly as possible, because if the root filling is not sealed, it may become infected and it may be necessary to renew the root canal treatment. Sometimes, due to a faulty crown or filling, an old root canal treatment may become infected, requiring renewal of the treatment or even extraction if not treated on time. At Dr. Jerry Cohen’s dental clinic, the dentists and endodontists use the most innovative equipment, and mostly highly flexible rotatory files made of nickel-titanium, which ensures the best result in any root canal treatment.
Root canal treatment using the most advanced equipment in the world!
We use the most technologically-advanced equipment. The clinic has a specialized microscope that allows reaching maximum precision, and therefore the quality of the root canal treatment is extremely high!
The microscope is used to find all the small canals in the roots, thus preventing complications in the root canal treatment itself. In addition, when there are cases in which root canal treatments cannot be done through the tooth’s crown and surgical treatment is necessary, the microscope allows for exact access to the end of the root, in which most bacteria causing inflammations around the root have accumulated.
The microscope helps seal the canal orifice with great precision, to prevent chronic leak of bacteria into the tissues surrounding the root.
